Hello all! I'm here and SO excited! I'll give a quick update because there was so much crammed in the first three days. Later you will recieve more detailed ones than this, but here you are...
Sunday- Left KC around 2pm (Miss everyone very much. Hard to leave Kevs especially... duh.) Flew, flew, flew all night long with an awful but adorable little kid behind me who had fits of rage against the back of my chair... seriously. That went on for about an hour then he settled down and I settled down. Slept about 5 of the 8 hours (I had the seat next to me free too! Plus a window seat! Does it get better?) and arrived!
Monday- Met the group. Really nice people! 2 Australians, which have been alot of fun, and 35ish Americans :) We took our stuff to the hotel then started touring! I saw Big Ben, the London Bridge, the Tower of London. We had an early night, which was great but didn't sleep well at all! "Dasterdly" jet lag as the Brits say :)
Tuesday: Buckingham Palace, Green Park, the London Eye, Westminster Abbey (AMAZING! I stood on Charles Dickens body!) and the Bristish Museum. I want to go back the that Museum... now those who know me, know I don't do museums well, but this was amazing! They had stuff from Biblical times! I would love to brush up on the Hittites and all those other -ite groups and then go back and be even more amazed! Also went to Abbey Road... for those who don't know, this is the famous cover of the Beatles and I walked there. Yes, perhaps it is the most touristy thing you could do, but still. It was fun :)
Wednesday: Not as enthralling. Went to Tate Modern Art Museum... they called a pile of bricks, literally, art. Seriously people. Our generation is lame. :) Sorry if I offended art-lovers... but really? Tate's bricks? Anyway, saw the replica of Shakespeare's Theater, which was cool, but it wasn't the real thing so that took some awe away. Then, hopped on a bus to Leciester... actually Oadby Village, which is a suburb of Leicester where my dorm is located. About a 15 minute bus ride or 45 minute walk. Ate, went to Asda (aka Wal-mart in U.S.) and then did some orientation stuff and here I am!
This has been so much fun and certainly an adventure. It's only the beginning, which both a blessing and a curse I suppose. It's been a little idealistic, but so good! Real life will set in in a couple weeks... oh yes! This news. School doesn't start for an unexpected two more weeks! Don't know if they got dates wrong or what, but wow! We'll see what we do in our free two weeks. Should be fun!
Would definitely love a few conversations with the Lord on my behalf if you get a chance. I've met some great people and am looking forward to knowing them more! Pray over that and just adjustment, strength of home relationships, etc. Miss you and love you all!!
PS Will post pics soon.
